HALES CORNERS (WITI) — The Wisconsin DOT says all lanes were blocked on Thursday afternoon, August 14th on I-894 WB at I-43 SB due to a traffic incident. Additionally, the ramp was closed from the east to the south in the Hale Interchange.

The DOT says a woman was driving northbound on I-43 and entered the Hale Interchange. She took the ramp from I-43 to head north on I-894/U.S. Highway 45 and she somehow went off the ramp, and through yards of brush and trees.

Sheriff’s deputies apparently had a hard time finding the woman — but they eventually located her. She was walking near the vehicle, and is apparently going to be okay.

The DOT says the vehicle will have to be removed using a crane because it is behind the barrier along the ramp from I-894 WB to I-43 SB.

This incident was causing traffic delays. Just before 2:00 p.m. Thursday, the DOT said backups were still being reported.

Just after 2:00 p.m., the Wisconsin DOT said this incident has been cleared — and all lanes are back open.
