MILWAUKEE (WITI) — There was a new announcement about the solar power program Milwaukee Shines in Milwaukee on Thursday, August 21st.

Milwaukee Shines works to support solar energy implementing in the City of Milwaukee by:

  • Providing education for the general public and solar professionals
  • Providing connections to financing solutions to invest in solar today
  • Improving the process when installing solar in Milwaukee

Mayor Tom Barrett talked about the expansion of Milwaukee Shines.

The city program helps homeowners find low-interest financing and neighborhood group-by programs to set up solar in their homes.

The program started in Riverwest and Bay View neighborhoods, and it’s about to expand.

“Because of these successes Milwaukee shines is expanding the group buy program to new neighborhoods, washington heights and layton boulevard west, one on the north side one on the south side,” said Mayor Tom Barrett.

So far this year, 35 homes in Milwaukee added solar power panels as part of the program.
