Brewers skidding, division race tightening

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers still lead the National League Central division, but they are not playing their best ball of the season.  Saturday night, they lost to the Pirates, 10-2, which was their third straight home loss.  In each of those games, the starting pitching left something to be desired.

Against Pittsburgh, Wily Peralta cruised through the first three innings before seeing everything go awry in the fourth and fifth.  He ultimately allowed 8 runs (7 earned) in just five frames.  Pedro Alvarez bopped a pair of homers off Peralta.

Scooter Gennett had a homer and Khris Davis an RBI double for the Brewers, who try to avoid  being swept on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals won in extra innings at Philadelphia, so the Crew leads the Central by just half a game over St. Louis and four games over Pittsburgh.
