Our Tim Van Vooren to participate in the "Ping Pong Challenge for Charity" -- but first, he's got to practice

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers have very high expectations for their respective seasons, but some of the individual players are also aiming high in another area -- and FOX6's Tim Van Vooren is set to get in on all the fun!

The idea of covering supremely gifted professional athletes is one thing for our Tim Van Vooren. Competing against them is another!

Tim Van Vooren is on the list of participants in the "Ping Pong Challenge for Charity" -- featuring Packers and Brewers players on September 7th -- so in advance of that, Tim needed a little practice.

That's where ping pong professional Mike Jenders came in! Jenders came to FOX6 to give Van Vooren a few ping pong tips ahead of the big event.

The "Ping Pong Challenge for Charity" is being staged by the SURG Restaurant Group to raise money for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

"We were thinking about -- what could we do with an event that would be very unique. I don't know of many people that have done Brewers vs. Packers -- so we were thinking softball, pool, and then Ryan Braun came up with the idea of ping pong," Omar Surg with the SURG Restaurant Group.

"Athleticism translates, definitely. Reflexes, quickness, wingspan certainly helps. Something that doesn't help is testosterone -- so we might have a little bit of that flowing at the event," Jenders said.
