Thousands to be donated to 12-year-old stabbing victim's family after Madison fundraiser

MADISON (WITI) -- Folks in Madison this weekend stepped up to help a 12-year-old girl stabbed by two of her "friends" in Waukesha this spring, and left in the woods to die.

A fundraiser was held at Metcalfe's Market on Madison's west side on Friday, August 29th, and that event raised over $50,000 for the little girl.

The "Mini Brat Fest" -- produced by Metcalfe's Market, presented by Johnsonville and in cooperation with Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek was held from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday.

The event was a fundraiser for the 12-year-old girl stabbed 19 times on May 31st by two 12-year-old girls who were supposedly, her "friends." The girls allegedly believed if they killed her, they would meet the fictional online character "Slenderman."

The girls have been charged as adults in the case -- each facing a first degree intentional homicide charge.

The 12-year-old stabbing victim's family faces mounting medical bills -- and all proceeds from Friday's event will go to the family to help with those bills.
