Woman convicted in drug death is ordered to pay visits to the victim's grave

RACINE (AP) — A woman convicted in a drug death has been sentenced in Racine County to eight years in prison and ordered to visit the victim's grave annually for a time after she's released.

Thirty-eight-year-old Kristie Fitzgerald will also serve 12 years of extended supervision and three years of probation following her prison sentence. Fitzgerald was convicted of second-degree homicide and other charges in the death of 53-year-old David Buchholtz about a year ago. She sold prescription pain medication to Buchholtz who overdosed at his Town of Waterford home.

The mother of three offered a tearful apology to the Buchholtz family in court Wednesday. The Racine Journal Times (http://bit.ly/1uBXOfV ) says the order to visit the victim's grave came at the request of the Buchholtz family.
