Neighborhood smoke alarm sweep; Milwaukee firefighters go door to door

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee firefighters will go door-to-door checking for working smoke alarms on Saturday, September 6th starting at 1:30 p.m.

This comes in light of the fire that started at 3371 North 2nd St. early Saturday morning.

Firefighters will begin at the scene of the fire and cover the surrounding areas. They will canvass the neighborhood installing new smoke alarms for homes that are not protected.

Early notification is critical to escaping a fire in your home. All homes should have at least one smoke alarm on each level of their home. It is recommended to have additional smoke alarms in each bedroom if possible.
