Fire marshal investigates after one person dies in Menomonee Falls house fire



MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- The Menomonee Falls Police and Fire Departments responded to what ended up being a fatal house fire on Lilly Rd. early Saturday morning, September 6th.

Emergency crews were called to the home just after 1 a.m. In the process of fighting the fire, crews located the victim. There were no other people identified as being at the home.

The victim has been identified as the homeowner, a 50-year-old male and lone resident of the single-family residence.

It is believed that the victim was burning material in a fire ring located on a deck that was attached to the house the evening prior to the fire.

Officials say smoldering remnant in the fire ring ignited the porch and subsequently the house during the overnight hours.

No foul play is suspected in this incident.

Investigators from the Menomonee Falls Police and Fire Departments, along with the State Fire Marshal’s office, are now conducting an investigation into this incident.
