IOWA (WITI) — Here come the brides! Together for 72 years, two Iowa women in their 90s tied the knot this past weekend.

The Quad City Times reports 90-year-old Alice “Nonie” Dubes and 91-year-old Vivian Doyack were married on Saturday, September 6th.

They met in Yale, Iowa and moved to Davenport in 1947. Doyack was an elementary school teacher, and Dubes did payroll.

The women have traveled to all 50 states, all of the provinces and Canada, and to England twice.

“We’ve had a good time,” Dubes said.

Same-sex marriage became legal in Iowa in 2009.

I think this story is beautiful. In a society where conventional marriage seems to be a joke and is anything but “till death do us part” , these ladies have been together for 72 years! I wish them happiness in the time that they
    have left on this earth.
