Alert for drivers: Upcoming FULL CLOSURE of SB I-43 at WIS 83 in Mukwonago

MUKWONAGO (WITI) — As part of the I-43 Rock Freeway project, crews will be setting bridge spans over the Canadian National Railroad and will require an overnight full clo­sure of southbound I-43 at WIS 83 in Mukwonago. Northbound traffic on I-43 will continue as normal.

The closure will be in effect Tuesday, September 16th from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. In the event of poor weather, the closure will take place the following evening.


  • All I-43 southbound traffic will be diverted to WIS 83
  • Proceed south on WIS 83 to County L
  • Go west on County L to WIS 20
  • Go west on WIS 20 to I-43 on-ramp

Assurance markers will be placed along the detour route to let motorists know they are traveling the correct route. State Patrol and local law enforcement will be assisting in the operation.
