"To better serve our customers:" DMV opening two customer service centers on Saturdays

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Starting September 20th, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will extend hours to include Saturday mornings at two Milwaukee DMV customer service centers. Customers will have the convenience of in-person visits from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at these centers:

The services at these two locations include driver products, such as getting driver licenses, ID products and disabled parking ID cards. Vehicle-related products, such as vehicle titling and license plates, are also available – though all vehicle transactions can also be done online.

“DMV is always looking for ways to improve our service to the public. We have determined that we can add Saturday morning service at two high-demand DMV customer service centers to better serve our customers,” said Jim Miller, Bureau of Field Services director.

Currently, many DMV customer service centers in smaller communities throughout Wisconsin offer “non-traditional” hours, such as 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. two days per week. “We are consistently exploring options to better serve our customers,” Miller added.

People may be unaware that routine DMV tasks can be done conveniently online. The DMV is expanding its online capabilities to complement the service centers and allow customers to get out of line and go online. New online services include the Driver License Guide (https://app.wi.gov/dlguide), which walks the customer through all the eligibility and documentation requirements needed before visiting a DMV customer service center.

If the pilot to extend hours at these two Milwaukee-based customer service centers is successful, the DMV may open more centers on Saturdays later in 2015 in a few other cities around Wisconsin.
