Wisconsin Club for Growth Director asks "John Doe" D.A. John Chisholm to investigate himself

MADISON (AP) — The director of a conservative group wants a prosecutor investigating whether right-leaning organizations illegally coordinated with Gov. Scott Walker's campaign to ask a judge to appoint a special investigator to look into whether the probe is political.

Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm helped start the so-called John Doe investigation in 2012, looking for evidence conservative groups, including Wisconsin Club for Growth, illegally coordinated with Walker's recall campaign in 2011 and 2012.

Wisconsin Club for Growth Director Eric O'Keefe accused Chisholm on Saturday of launching the probe because his wife, a school union steward, was upset about Walker's law stripping public workers' union rights. He demanded Chisholm ask a judge to pick a special prosecutor to investigate whether Chisholm abused his discretion.

Chisholm's office didn't immediately return a message Monday.
