"Ale Asylum" pub and eatery could fill space formerly occupied by Molly Cool's

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Molly Cool's Seafood Tavern in downtown Milwaukee unexpectedly closed earlier this week, and now, there's word on what may be taking its place.

Employees came to work at Molly Cool's on Monday, September 29th, to find a sign saying Molly Cool's was closed, effective immediately.

The restaurant's owner cited "lack of funds" -- saying a tough winter and cold June meant they didn't have enough business to stay open.

Molly Cool's opened in 2009.

Ale Asylum, a Madison-based brewery, plans to open a pub and eatery, which will be called "The Ale Asylum River House." This, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Tim Thompson, who co-founded the original Ale Asylum, will own the Milwaukee location.
