MILWAUKEE (WITI) — It’s fire safety week, and Friday some firefighters were getting a hand from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Bango and some members of the team helped to make sure people are staying safe.

They went along with some Milwaukee firefighters to check homes for working smoke detectors.

The fire department also made Bucks second year man, Giannis Antetokounmpo an honorary chief — he had an important message.

“You gotta check you smoke detector once a month, anytime the time changes you gotta check and change your smoke detector — and the help of me and the Bucks, we make your life easier and more safe,” said Antetokounmpo.

If you qualify, and live in the city of Milwaukee, firefighters will come to your home, do a fire inspection, and install fire alarms for free.
