"Bigger and better Oktoberfest" at Cathedral Square

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Two Sprecher Brewing fire trucks, complete with beers on tap, make their stop at Milwaukee Oktoberfest in Cathedral Square.

The event organizer, Swarmm Events, chose the new location for a "bigger and better Oktoberfest." The event benefits the Hunger Task Force.

The first keg was tapped on Friday, October 10th, with free beer, while the keg lasts!

The event features food, German music, a stein-hoisting competition, a bags tournament, the Miss Oktoberfest competition, a photo booth with German props, and the inaugural wiener dog race.

On Sunday, October 12th, the event will also present the "Green, Gold, and German Tailgate" with a large projection screen, weather permitting.

While the event is free, all-you-can-eat-and-drink VIP tickets are available for purchase. The VIP package also includes an Oktoberfest stein and t-shirt.

On Saturday, 200 event goers will experience Milwaukee Brewfest, a craft-beer-tasting festival within the festival. Craft beers from across the U.S. and from around the world will be available for sampling.

The event will run until 10 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday October 12th, noon to 5 p.m.

Cathedral Square is located at 520 E. Wells St.
