A "portal to hell" in suburban Ohio? Homeowners at war with ghost hunters over tunnel on private property

OHIO (WITI) -- A portal to hell in suburban Ohio? It's real -- if you believe paranormal investigators, teenagers and others.

"A group of Satanists supposedly used to meet there in some type of altar room and conduct their rituals. They must have been pretty good, because the legend claims they managed to open a doorway to hell," CreepyCincinnati.com blogger Rick Fenbers told WCPO in Cincinnati.

The problem?

This alleged "doorway to hell" is on private property -- tucked in the woods behind an apartment complex. It's actually a storm drain.

“It’s rough on the homeowners. People park in their driveway and try to get into the drainage system and nobody likes that. (The owner) has had to chase off some people, for sure," Blue Ash Police Lt. Steve Schueler said.

WCPO reports some have claimed screams can be heard coming from inside the drainage tunnel at night. Others have reported unexplainable apparitions.

Police tell WCPO those claims have some breaking the law. Police tell WCPO there is no way to block the drainage tunnel from trespassers without damaging property.

WCPO reports officers are called to the property twice a year to remove trespassers.

Police worry rain could cause water to flood the tunnels, and if someone were inside during a storm, they could easily drown.

David Scott is a filmmaker who has visited the site, and he has posted video to YouTube.

“This is one of the scariest locations I have ever investigated,” Scott told WCPO.
