Search warrant released detailing interviews, evidence linking Kenosha man to Berit Beck disappearance

FOND DU LAC COUNTY (WITI) -- It's a 24-year-old cold case. In the summer of 1990, Berit Beck's body was discovered in a ditch in rural Fond du Lac County. Now, recently released documents are providing details about a suspect in the case.

It's a case authorities aren't giving up on.

In April, the Fond du Lac County sheriff asked the public for help.

"If somebody knows something, they need to come forward and tell us," Fond du Lac County Sheriff Myland Find said.

It was then that authorities said they have evidence a 61-year-old Kenosha  man was inside the van Beck was driving when she disappeared.

Now, a search warrant detailing interviews and evidence linking the Kenosha suspect to the case has been made available to the public.

The document says the man's fingerprints were on a number of items officials found in Beck's van -- including a Burger King cup and a bleach kit. Officials say Beck bought the kit at Walgreens the day she disappeared.

Search warrant documents also include interviews with people who worked with the suspect.

One person told authorities he saw media coverage on the Berit Beck case and the suspect had a picture of her at his work station.

"Any time you're dealing with a homicide, we want to be very careful and we get it right and not jump to conclusions. There's a significant amount of information in the past 24 years that's been developed," Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney said.

Officials say they will continue to collect evidence in this case.

The suspect isn't being identified at this time because he hasn't been arrested or charged.

Authorities are still asking for the public's help in this case. If you have any information you're asked to call the sheriff's office anonymous tip line at 906-4777.
