Walker vs. Burke: Admirals to conduct straw poll of gubernatorial election on November 2nd

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Admirals will continue their fine tradition this election season when they conduct a straw poll of the Wisconsin gubernatorial election on Sunday, November 2nd.

On that day, the Admirals host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 3:00 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The first 3,500 fans to the game will receive a mask with the portraits of Governor Scott Walker on one side and challenger Mary Burke on the other.  Then at a break in the action early in the third period the Admirals will ask all the fans to hold up their mask showing the face of their choice for Wisconsin’s next governor.

The Admirals will then use undisclosed, state-of-the-art technology to determine which candidate has the most people wearing his mask, declaring the winner of the poll. The poll, which takes place just two days before the actual November 4th election, holds added importance given the proximity to the voting date.

“The methodology that we are using in this poll is a bit unorthodox, but we have done extensive research and believe it to be both precise and impactful,” said Admirals President Jon Greenberg.

This will be the fourth straw poll that the Admirals have conducted.

Back in 2008, the Admirals successfully predicted that Obama would defeat John McCain to win the presidency and in 2010 the Admirals poll predicted a Scott Walker gubernatorial win and, that was confirmed as well.

The only Admirals polling that was incorrect was the presidential bobblehead poll of 2012 when the Ads predicted a Mitt Romney win but the election went to Obama.
