Motorcyclist slams into back of pickup truck, cited for OWI

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- A 54-year-old Racine man was cited for operating while intoxicated after he crashed his motorcycle into a pickup truck in Mount Pleasant on Saturday evening, October 25th. The accident happened just before 7 p.m. near Durand Ave. and Oakes Rd.

Officials say the motorcyclist was traveling east on Durand when he struck the rear of a truck that was making a left turn in the intersection.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He suffered a head injury as well as various broken bones. The motorcyclist was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Officials say alcohol is a factor in this accident. They also say the motorcyclist also appeared to be traveling at an excessive rate of speed.

The operator of the truck was not injured.
