WISCONSIN (WITI) — has released its list of the 50 Best Suburbs in America — and it turns out a Wisconsin community is number one on the list!

After examining data on nearly 300 suburbs, put together a list of the 50 best suburbs in America — considering suburbs with populations between 5,000 and 100,000 within 40 kilometers of the nearest metropolitan area. also factored in average comute times, median household income, poverty and crime rates, public school ratings from, and a measure of housing affordability.

Five Wisconsin communities have made the list, with Elm Grove, Wisconsin coming in at number one!

Fox Point, Wisconsin comes in at number 12, Mequon, Wisconsin is number 23, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin is number 27, and Waunakee, Wisconsin is number 43.

In considering Elm Grove, Wisconsin to be the number one best suburb in America, says this about the community — giving the community of 5,934 a 10/10 “Great Schools” score:

“Elm Grove has it all: phenomenal schools, low poverty and violent-crime rates, and a six-figure median household income ($109,933). Residents can access the downtown Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis area in just 20 minutes, or escape the bustle of the big city at the village’s nature sanctuaries. Elm Grove is a designated “Bird City,” a distinction awarded to cities committed to making their communities a better place for people, birds, and other wildlife.”

    they obviously didn’t take into consideration its proximity to milwaukee. any suburb within a 300 mile radius of the inner city should be excluded.
