SENTENCED: Accused in a 2012 bank robbery in Racine, 30-year-old man to spend time in prison

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- One of two men facing charges in connection with the robbery of a TCF Bank in Racine back in 2012 has been sentenced to prison.

30-year-old Darnell Williams initially faced eight felony charges in connection with the November 2012 robbery.

Williams pleaded guilty to a felony count of armed robbery, and the other seven charges were dismissed.

In court on Thursday, October 30th, 2014, Williams was sentenced to nine years in prison and seven years of extended supervision on the armed robbery charge.

Police say Williams and Antonio Brown entered the bank, and one suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money. The employees complied with the suspect's demands and the two suspects fled.

Following the bank robbery, dispatchers broadcast a description of the suspects and vehicle, and officers located a vehicle matching that description several blocks away. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit began.

The vehicle eventually stopped, and the two individuals took off on foot. Officers then began an extensive search.

One suspect was taken into custody, and another entered a silver vehicle -- according to a witness. The driver of the silver vehicle reportedly picked up the suspect, as she feared for her and her child's safety, and was not involved in the robbery.

The second suspect was located by police in the rear seat of the vehicle and was taken into custody.

No one was injured.

41-year-old Antonio Brown pleaded guilty to a felony armed robbery charge, and was sentenced in August to eight years in prison and eight years of extended supervision.
