ST. LOUIS (WITI) — The Milwaukee Wave began a new era of indoor soccer Saturday night in St. Louis, Missouri, opening the Major Arena Soccer League season with an exciting 8 – 4 victory over the St. Louis Ambush.

“I’m very proud of the team and the way they started the season,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “St. Louis is good team and I thought we played well start to finish.”

MKE Wave Forward #26 Ian Bennett and #10 Luan Sales Oliveira both had two goals on the night, #15 Tony Walls had two assists and veteran midfielder/forward #20 Marcelo Fontana provided a sixth attacker goal.

As for player of the game? “If I had to chose one tonight, it would be Jonathan Greenfield on defense,” said Coach Oliviero. “He really dictated the pace and managed game tempo well.”
