WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) — Flight for Life was called out to the scene of a serious crash in Washington County late Monday morning, November 10th.

It happened shortly before noon at the intersection of Highway 175 and Highway S in the Town of Addison.

Washington County Sheriff’s officials say the crash involved a semi tractor trailer and a small passenger vehicle. The semi tractor was leaking diesel fuel following the crash.

Sheriff’s officials say a preliminary investigation has indicated the semi tractor trailer and the passenger car were headed north on Highway 175 from St. Lawrence. The passenger car was ahead of the semi tractor trailer and appeared to be lost — according to the semi’s operator.

As the two vehicles approached the intersection at Highway S, the passenger car began to turn east onto Highway S and then, without warning, apparently performed  U-turn back onto Highway 175. That’s when Sheriff’s officials say the passenger vehicle struck the semi.

The semi tractor trailer was hauling a full load of sand from a local gravel pit.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was seriously injured and taken to the hospital via Flight for Life.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing.

Hello, Peter here. I’m the one in the small passenger vehicle who got hit by the truck. Just dropping by to say that this scary story has a happy ending. After two weeks in the hospital (the service and staff at Aurora Summit were excellent), I am back at home, resuming a normal life with just a pelvic fracture. Eventually I’ll be weight-bearing on my leg again. It really makes no logical sense that I escaped permanent injuries, but I know the answer for the miracles involved in this incident is prayers. The prayer support I received from countless, wonderful people is the reason behind this. If anyone reads this, be assured that God provides and prayer really works. I hope the truck driver is doing well, despite the scare.
