Police: 18-year-old Milwaukee man arrested for attempted robbery

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Officers from District 4 of the Milwaukee Police Department arrested a suspect after he tried to rob a victim of his car.

Officers were dispatched to the area of W. Silver Spring Drive and N. 91st Street at about 5:40 p.m. on November 10th for a report of a strong-armed robbery. At the scene, the victim, a 49-year-old man, told officers that as he was leaving a business and attempting to get into his vehicle when a suspect approached him.

The suspect demanded the keys and his vehicle while implying a weapon, which turned out to be a cell phone. Following a brief struggle, the victim was able to get away in his car. A short time later, officers on patrol in the 9400 block of W. Sheridan Avenue saw a man matching the description of the suspect and took him into custody.

The suspect, an 18-year-old man from Milwaukee, confessed to the crime.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
