State Dept. of Natural Resources: Residents, businesses stepping up recycling efforts

MADISON (AP) — The state Department of Natural Resources says state residents and businesses are stepping up their recycling efforts.

The agency says residents and businesses recycled about 831,000 tons of paper products and food and beverage containers last year. That's a 79,000-ton increase over 2012.

The average household returned 702 pounds of paper and containers to the economy through recycling at home, work and while out and about.

The DNR compiled the data from recycling reports local governments and recycling facilities send to the agency every year.
