Wisconsinites have mixed emotions over season's first measurable snowfall

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The snow came quickly in Milwaukee on Saturday evening, November 15th. There has been consistent snow for the past few hours and it has really blanketed the area -- like it or not, it is here!

Every year there is a range of emotions that come with the first real snowfall of the season.

"It's happy, it's pretty. I love snow," said Sarah Shaw, from Madison.

"I don't like it," said Natalie Braden.

Sometimes the snow is dreaded, and other times it is desired.

"I think it's beautiful. I'm excited, I'm ready for it," said Mary Maloney, from Milwaukee.

It is time to accept the cold and the snow that has arrived.

"I can deal with this but last year, I just don't want another repeat," said Braden.

For the first time in months, there is a blanket of white -- streets are covered, and at times can be slick.

"As we know, the first one is always the most challenging one," said Mary Bengsch, with the Department of Public Works.

As about 80 salt trucks hit the roads, crowds of people revel in the winter-like weather.

"I like the changes and it's pretty," said Maloney.

Remembering that even though it's not everyone's favorite time -- some will always look forward to more of it.

The salt trucks will continue to be out. They are hitting the main roads around Milwaukee.

A reminder if you're out and about tonight, slow down and pay attention -- be careful if you are driving.
