Gov. Walker not sure when he will introduce budget

MADISON (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker says he doesn't know when he will introduce his state budget proposal, but he's hoping that meetings he's having now with state lawmakers will smooth its passage.

Walker told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday that he doesn't know whether he will submit the budget in January or seek a delay as usually happens.

Walker says meetings he is having with lawmakers now may cause introduction of the budget to be delayed, but that hopefully that would mean that its passage would go more quickly in the Legislature.

Budgets typically get passed in late June, but Walker has said he wants to be more aggressive in passing it next year given larger Republican majorities in both the Senate and Assembly.
