Brand new East Library opens Saturday, November 22nd!

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee's newest library branch will open this Saturday, November 22nd!

The new library, located at the corner of North Avenue and Cramer Street opens to the public on Saturday.

The library will have more than books, newspapers and videos. It will also include residents! Condos were build along with the new library.

"The city will have a condominium on the first floor here. 16,000 square feet is now serving as East Library for Milwaukee and the upper will be private residences. That will be a different type of condo project, but it allowed us to dramatically reduce the cost and bring the cost to this new library to basically $4 million," Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said.

Mayor Barrett says the plan is to rebuild or refurbish all neighborhood libraries by 2020.
