Racine home uninhabitable following fire; cause remains under investigation

RACINE (WITI) -- Firefighters responded to a house fire on Racine's near southwest side Thursday night, November 20th.

It happened around 9:50 p.m. near Holmes Avenue and 18th Street.

According to officials, patrons at TBG's Bar and Grill called 911 after spotting flames.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control in less than 30 minutes, containing most fire damage to the first floor, with smoke and water damage throughout the house.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, however, the family dog and cat perished due to smoke inhalation.

The home is uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Damage is estimated at $20,000 contents and $60,000 to the home.
