House considered a total loss after fire in Town of Wayne

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) — A home owner in the Town Of Wayne came home to find smoke and flames coming from the rear of their home. When Kohlsville Fire Department arrived, the back side of the home was fully engulfed and the fire was spreading to the rest of the home.

The fire department was able to extinguish it with several surrounding fire departments.

None of the home owners suffered injuries from the fire, but the family did lose their cat.

The entire home had sever damage and is believed to be a complete loss. The damage estimate to the home is $180,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

    Why do insurance companies bother to underwrite policies for homes in the sticks? You know that by time the fire guys get there they can’t even save the basement!
