"I just can't focus on anybody else right now:" Black Friday shoppers score for themselves

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The holiday shopping tradition used to start very early in the morning on Black Friday. But now, shopping gets into full swing as soon as your turkey leftovers are put away.

Some shoppers waited in line for 2 hours on Thursday night. They have a long list of deals they are looking for, but only one person on their list.

If you've never ventured out into the madness of Thanksgiving sales, FOX6 News is going to let you in on a secret. The long lines, the adrenaline rush as you burst through the door, it's all for one reason.

Thanksgiving Thursday has given way to the rise of the self-shopper. For 'exhibit A' look no further than Michelle Hall.

"I just can't focus on anybody else right now," said Hall.

A stop at Bath & Body Works scored her a sweet 3-for-3 deal. A gift for herself.

FOX6 News' Bret Lemoine asked "Do you feel guilty doing that?"

"No, not at all. It's on sale. You're saving," said Hall.

The mall itself opened at 6 p.m. and will stay open until 10 p.m. Friday night. Some stores like JC Penny, have deals so good, you just can't pass them up.

Now we're not saying everyone at the mall is their own secret Santa, but those FOX6 News talked to for this story sure are.

Mall managers say customer demand is the reason they keep opening earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving.

Again, if you're looking to shop for loved ones, or yourself, the mall is open now through 10 p.m. tomorrow.
