Milwaukee's "Slice of Ice" set to reopen with free skate rentals on Thursday

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Slice of Ice skate rink in Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee officially opens for the season on Thursday, December 4th at 4 p.m. To help kick off the event, WaterStone Bank will provide free skate rentals from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on opening day.

New this season, Red Arrow Park will be decorated with colorful trees and led lighting from WaterStone Bank, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Milwaukee Admirals, the Milwaukee Brewers, Bartolotta’s Rumpus Room, Reinhart Law, LaPerla Restaurant, MGIC, David Gruber Law and The Park People of Milwaukee County.

Throughout the season, ice skates may be rented for $7 per pair for ages 17 and under, and $8 per pair for adults. Residents and visitors with their own skates can skate for free.

Comfortably accommodating 100 skaters at a time, the 128-by-95-foot refrigerated oval is open from December through February–or March if the weather allows.

Rink hours through Dec. 20 are Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Additional hours this season are Sunday, Dec. 21–Tuesday, Dec. 24, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2-11 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 26-Monday, Dec. 30, 10 a.m.-midnight; and Tuesday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m.-1 a.m.
