Man arrested for 2nd OWI after traffic accident kills woman in Racine

RACINE (WITI) — A 43-year-old woman is dead after an accident involving another vehicle left her trapped inside her own car after it rolled onto its roof.

The accident happened around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 13th at 13th and S. Memorial Dr. in Racine.

It is undetermined how the accident happened but when police arrived they located the woman’s vehicle upside down and the woman trapped inside.

The driver of the second vehicle, 33-year-old Tarance Bryant, fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by police.

Bryant was arrested for his 2nd OWI offense, homicide by operation of a vehicle while intoxicated, and hit and run resulting in death.

Bryant is being held at the Racine County Jail.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
