ALLENTON (WITI) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was called to an apartment building on Main St. in Allenton Saturday morning, December 13th around 4:30.

It is reported a 32-year-old man was inside the residence yelling and breaking items. Authorities were led to believe there were numerous martial arts weapons and firearms inside the apartment.

The suspect was wanted by a surrounding county.

When officials arrived, they saw the man inside the apartment yelling and swinging an axe. Deputies were unsure at the time if anyone else was inside the residence.

Those living nearby were asked to evacuate the area as the Sheriff’s SWAT team responded to the scene. Area roads were closed for about one hour during the incident.

Authorities made contact with the suspect over the phone, who peacefully surrendered around 7:15 a.m. No other occupants were found inside the apartment, but deputies say numerous weapons were located inside the residence.

Several criminal charges will be requested against the suspect.
