Salvation Army makes it possible for thousands of kids to have toys this Christmas

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Some people got their Christmas shopping done on Friday, December 19th -- and it was all thanks to the Salvation Army.

Friday was the final day for the Salvation Army's toy distribution. More than 100,000 toys were be going out to area children this year. That means 3,500 families now have something to put under the Christmas tree for their kids.

"Every child, every child, should enjoy Christmas, every child should wake up on Christmas morning and find gifts under a tree. For them, this community is such a giving community and really understands that Christmas is about children," said Faithe Colas of the Salvation Army.

All the toys were bought with money from last year's Red Kettle campaign.
