Poor shooting costs Panthers in loss to SIU-Edwardsville

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Kris Davis and Maurice Wiltz each scored 13 points to lead SIU-Edwardsville to a 61-56 victory over Milwaukee on Saturday night.

Milwaukee led the entire second half until Rozell Nunn's jumper gave SIU-Edwardsville a 47-45 lead with 4:35 remaining. Milwaukee's Matt Tiby answered with a 3-pointer to make it 48-47.

Donivine Stewart scored five points and Michael Messer added three to give SIU-Edwardsville a 55-48 lead with 46 seconds left.

Steve McWhorter's trey pulled Milwaukee within 59-56 with 9 seconds left. Wiltz made a pair of free throws and McWhorter had a turnover to end it.

Stewart dished out six assists and Keaton Jackson had five blocks for SIU-Edwardsville (2-7).

Tiby scored 16 points, J.J. Panoske had 12 points, and McWhorter chipped in 11 points, 10 boards and four steals for Milwaukee (5-7), who shot just 20 of 63 for 31.7 percent from the field.
