Freight train strikes car on tracks in Waukesha

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- A freight train struck a car that was on the tracks in Waukesha early Saturday, December 27th.

Police first got the call around 4:15 a.m. A vehicle was reported parked on the railroad tracks in the area of N. Hartwell Ave and E. Main St. The operator was a woman reported to be outside the vehicle and walking on the tracks.

Officials attempted to call the Canadian Railroad Dispatch Center to advise them of the danger. However, during that call, the railroad center indicated a train had just reported striking the vehicle.

When officers arrived on scene, they found nobody was hurt.

The initial investigation shows alcohol was a factor in this incident.
