Cristian Loga-Negru accused in brutal murder pleads not guilty, bound over for trial

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- 38-year-old Cristian Loga-Negru pleaded not guilty to several charges in a Racine County court on Tuesday morning, December 30th. The plea was entered after Loga-Negru waived his right to a preliminary hearing -- and the judge found probable cause to bind him over for trial.

Loga-Negru is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, kidnapping and more. Investigators say his wife had been hiding from him at a friend's house in Racine County. They say Loga-Negru found her there, attacked her with a hatchet and dragged her to a Mount Pleasant hotel.

Earlier this month, a judge ruled Loga-Negru was competent to stand trial.

Loga-Negru is due back in court on January 16th.
