CAPTURED: Wanted in connection with two attempted abduction incidents, man now in custody

OZAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- Ozaukee County Sheriff's officials say a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted abduction investigation has been taken into custody.

Sheriff's officials say on Monday, December 22nd around 10:11 p.m., the suspect approached two young girls on the side of the road in Fredonia, and attempted to get them to enter his vehicle. Officials say the suspect offered the girls money to come with him and stated his name was "Richard Newman."

The subject was driving a black truck/SUV.

A similar incident occurred approximately one hour earlier in the City of Plymouth. Photos of the suspect vehicle were captured by Plymouth Walmart surveillance cameras.

Sheriff's officials say the suspect was taken into custody in Illinois on December 23rd. He is believed to have been involved in both the Fredonia and Plymouth incidents.



The Ozaukee County District Attorney’s Office has issued an extraditable warrant asking that the suspect be returned to Ozaukee County to face a charge of attempted kidnapping.

The suspect is not being identified at this time pending additional investigation.
