Extreme cold has Desatar Ministry opening a warming shelter in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The arctic air is sticking around southeastern Wisconsin! The bitter cold triggered a Wind Chill Advisory that ran through noon on Thursday -- and we also had to deal with snow that fell throughout the day on Thursday. The winter weather has Desatar Ministry opening a warming shelter.

The facility was open from 7:00 p.m. Wednesday through 7:00 a.m. Thursday -- and opened up again at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

The shelter will be open from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. both Thursday and Friday (January 8th and 9th).

Desatar Ministry Christian Church is located at 1170 W. Windlake Avenue in Milwaukee.

Both English and Spanish speaking staff will be on site.

In addition, Desatar Ministry is looking for  volunteers, winter apparel and clothing (new/used), blankets.

For more information, contact Associate Pastor Juan Pablo at 414-801-3961.
