Police identify two men killed in the first homicide case of 2015

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police have identified two men found dead inside a home near N. Richards and E. Burleigh last Friday, January 2nd.

The men have been identified as 26-year-old Michael Taylor and 24-year-old Jeffrey White.

Police say shots were fired into the home.

Taylor and White were the first two homicide victims of 2015.

“Something needs to be done about all this, you know. It ain’t just my nephew. This is all over,” Louis Buckner, the uncle of one Michael Taylor said.

Louis Buckner says he got the call around noon Friday.

“My son called and told me, ‘Dad, Mikey got killed’ and it shocked me,” Buckner said.

Buckner knows this kind of tragedy all too well. He lost his own son in 2008.

“No value for life. Now his family is destroyed and the other guy’s family is destroyed,” Buckner said.

Shortly after police responded to the home where the shots were fired, an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds and believed to be connected to this incident went to the hospital. He was being treated for non life-threatening injuries and was in police custody.

Police said Wednesday, January 7th a 34-year-old Milwaukee man remains in custody in connection with this incident.
