Presumed dead, medical personnel establish pulse on Pewaukee Rd. crash victim; woman in ICU

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- The Waukesha Police Department is investigating a crash that occurred Wednesday morning, January 7th.

According to officials, two vehicles collided on Pewaukee Road between Bluemound Road and Northview Road around 8:00 a.m.

Authorities initially said a 51-year-old woman was killed in the crash. Later, they said though the woman did not have a pulse and was not breathing at the scene -- "thanks to the extraordinary efforts of medical personnel, a pulse was established."

The 51-year-old woman is now in the ICU at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

There is no prognosis for her recovery at this time.

Officials say their initial indications are that the crash may have been caused by a medical emergency prior to the crash.

A second driver was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
