Nine-year-old Merton boy has good reason to split his allegiance between the Packers & Seahawks

MERTON (WITI) -- A big game in Seattle next Sunday, January 18th! The Green Bay Packers take on the Seattle Seahawks in a battle for the NFC Championship. It's a matchup a Waukesha County family was hoping to avoid. They're obviously Packers fans, but they have a pretty good reason to root for the Seahawks too!

It turns out, the Seattle Seahawks' twelfth man is actually from Merton, Wisconsin.

"Seahawks are number one and the Packers are number two, so it's gonna be really hard," Brayden Ramus said.

Nine-year-old Brayden is gearing up to watch his two favorite football teams battle on the gridiron.

"The first reaction when Brayden says, 'I'm a Seahawks fan,' it's 'ohhhh, how can you be a Seahawks fan and live in Wisconsin?!'" Brayden's mom, Michelle Ramus said.

It was the Make-A-Wish Foundation that introduced Brayden to the Seattle Seahawks. He was flown to CenturyLink Field last season to deliver the game ball.

After the game, he was ushered into the locker room by Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. Brayden's been a fan of Wilson's since he played for the Wisconsin Badgers.

"He asked me if I liked the game, and had fun," Brayden said.

Brayden's phone call from Russell Wilson!

But it was a phone call later that may have cemented Brayden's loyalty: An invitation to the Super Bowl!

"It was so much more than I could have ever imagined," Michelle Ramus said.

Brayden and his family went on a trip they'll never forget. A picture of Brayden ended up in the Seattle Seahawks' game-day program.

Earlier this season, when the Packers played the Seahawks, the Ramus family hoped for a tie.

This time, Mom and Dad are trying to stay neutral. Brayden's loyalty is displayed in his bedroom window, but he predicts it won't be an easy win.

"Really close -- back-to-back scoring," Brayden said.

Brayden says he saw Wilson again his past summer, when he attended Wilson's passing academy in Madison. Out of 425 kids, Brayden's mom says Wilson remembered Brayden.

Brayden had leukemia when he was two to three years old, but he's been in remission ever since.
