Driver hits and kills elderly couple walking across the street in Caledonia

CALEDONIA (WITI) -- A couple in their 80's was struck and killed by an SUV as they walked across the street from attending church services in Caledonia.

The accident happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. outside St. Louis Catholic Church on Saturday, January 24th.

The couple was walking across the street when they were struck by an SUV driven by a woman. That woman is now cooperating with police.

Police say there were two children in her SUV -- no one in the SUV was injured.

Alcohol is NOT believed to be a factor in the accident.

Names of the victims and driver are not being released at this time.
