Milwaukee police: Suspect on probation for burglary arrested for similar crime

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A man on probation for a Waukesha County burglary was arrested by District 7 officers of the Milwaukee Police Department after he committed a similar crime.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of N. 36th Street at about 1:15 p.m. on January 28th after a citizen saw the suspect break into a vacant home through a basement window.

When officers arrived, they saw the suspect exiting the window and running away. The suspect, a 49-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Officers found a knife on him and he admitted to breaking into the home. The suspect also has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 1995.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
