Milwaukee wins 3rd straight at home, tops UIC 71-65

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Matt Tiby scored 19 points for a career-best 13th straight double-digit game and Milwaukee defeated Illinois-Chicago 71-65 on Thursday night.

UIC scored five straight points to get within two, 67-65, with 51 seconds left, but Justin Jordan hit a 3-pointer for Milwaukee and the Flames missed three 3-pointers.

Tiby added 13 rebounds for his sixth double-double this season. Steve McWhorter scored 17 points, Akeem Springs 13 and Cody Wichmann 11. The Panthers (8-14, 3-5 Horizon) have beaten the Flames in 13 of their last 15 meetings.

Ahman Fells had a career-high 20 points for the Flames (5-17, 1-6), who lost their sixth straight and are still winless on the road. Paris Burns added 16 points and Jay Harris 11.

The teams were tied at halftime, and the Flames began the second half with a 12-6 run. The Panthers came back and took the lead for good, 53-50, with 8:32 left.
