"This exceeded my expectations:" Sue Black appointed executive director of Arizona State Parks

MILWAUKEE/ARIZONA (WITI) -- Sue Black, former Milwaukee Wave owner and director of the Milwaukee County Parks Department has been appointed executive director of Arizona State Parks, the Milwaukee Business Journal reports.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced the appointment Tuesday, February 3rd. Black was most recently working with MKE Sports & Entertainment after company founder Mike Zimmerman acquired the Milwaukee Wave from her. She previously served as chief of operations for Arizona State Parks in the mid-1990s, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

"This exceeded my expectations. There's only 50 jobs like this in the country," Black told the Business Journal.

Black said her first day on the new job is February 11th, and she'll be moving to Arizona.

Black was fired from her Milwaukee County Parks director job in 2012, and shortly after that, she became president and CEO of the Milwaukee Wave. She previously served as director of Wisconsin State Parks after leaving the director of operations post in Arizona.
