"I'm just disgusted:" Fight breaks out between adults in stands of wrestling meet

OCONOMOWOC (WITI) -- A fight breaks out at a high school wrestling meet -- and shockingly, it was two adults that went toe to toe. The brawl happened over the weekend at Oconomowoc High School -- which was hosting the athletic event.

"To find out it was a woman actually getting punch in the face, I'm just disgusted," said Shannon Goodman.

Goodman was in shock as he witnessed the fight on Saturday afternoon. He quickly grabbed his phone and recorded the scuffle.

"My son had said he's seen the bearded gentleman grab the guy around the neck. And then the lady tried stopping it somehow. That's when she got knocked out then you look down and he started punching her," said Goodman.

The struggle first started during a fight in the stands at the Wisconsin Little 10 Conference wrestling tournament. The fight was between a Wisconsin Lutheran fan and a West Bend East fan. Police say the altercation began when somebody stood up to cheer and blocked another person's view. Words were exchanged -- and things turned physical.

"I felt really bad for the kids because you have to see them fighting right in the front row of the bleachers on the mats," said Goodman.

Goodman says parents were horrified to see adults act this way.

Interestingly, this is the second violent act by an adult supposedly connected to Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Just last month, a parent was arrested for allegedly shooting and wounding a 15-year-old boy in the school's parking lot.

Although it was disheartening, Goodman, who was there to cheer on his son, used the unfortunate incident for a lesson in respect and self control.

"They didn't like seeing it. They were very mad. Actually my son and I talked about it the whole way home. That's no way to treat a woman at any time no matter what going on," said Goodman.

Police say the woman was treated at the scene for a bloody nose. The 56-year-old man involved was arrested for battery. Police say they are still investigating the case -- and looking to see if more charges will be issued for him or anyone else.

FOX6 News reached out to Wisconsin Lutheran High School on Monday, February 9th about the cases connected to the school. We were told "no comment."
