Man known by bookstore employees as "the creeper" charged in Racine County

Anthony Lang

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- 26-year-old Anthony Lang of Racine faces some serious charges -- accused of exposing himself in a Mount Pleasant bookstore. The charges filed against Lang include: Lewd and lascivious behavior and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Green Bay Rd. on January 9th. A manager at the store told police Lang "frequents the store often and that he's usually in the bookstore every night of the week for approximately 3-4 hours at a time." The manager told officers that employees refer to him as "the creeper." The manager indicated Lang "spends hours at a time in the Sex/Love Self-Help section without making any purchases" and then goes "over to the 'kids' section without buying any items." The manager also told police when "she walked by the aisle she saw Lang standing in the aisle with his pants unzipped" and his genitals exposed. Lang then quickly left the bookstore the complaint said.

On Thursday, February 12th, police were again dispatched to the bookstore. The manager on duty indicated that Lang, "the suspect in the exposure incident on January 9, 2015 had returned to the store." An officer found Lang in the children's section. Lang was then taken into custody and questioned.

The complaint says Lang told officers "he did not expose himself in the bookstore." But the manager working on January 9th identified Lang as the man who had exposed himself.

If convicted, Lang faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.
