On a mission: Menominee Nation begins march to Madison over Kenosha casino

KESHENA (AP) — About a dozen members of the Menominee Indian Tribe are marching to Madison to try to change Gov. Scott Walker's mind about their plan to build a casino in Kenosha.

The walkers left Keshena Friday morning, February 13th where the temperature struggled to make it into the double digits. WLUK-TV reports a couple hundred people attended a rally at the tribal offices and sent the marchers and support vehicles on their way. First stop is Manawa. The group also plans stops in Waupaca, Wild Rose, Montello and Pardeeville before reaching Madison next week where they hope to meet with the governor.

Walker has refused to give the tribe final approval for the $800 million Hard Rock casino project and hasn't indicated that he's open to reconsideration.
